Created in 1999 with my partner and friend Jacques Primeau, Montréal Electronique Groove was the first electronic music festival in Montreal. Since then, the festival has allowed so many artists to shine on a national and international level, and carved out a place for itself as the trendsetting festival for emerging electro and urban music. This year, MEG is celebrating its 20th birthday and invites you to party it up and end the summer on a high note! Get ready for five days of festivities bringing together new local talent and electronic headliners that will make you dance all night long!
True to its principles, MEG kicks off at Ministère with two showcases featuring new Montreal talent. The electro-pop up-and-comers take center stage with Syzzors (QC) and Ghost Love (QC) as well as new hip-hop and funk talents: Clark’s Bowling Club (QC), Marie-Gold (QC) or JT Soul (QC).
Then, MEG will take over Société des Arts Technologiques for three electro nights during which headliners and local DJs will will burn the dancefloor! More than a dozen DJs will take the turntables of the venue by storm, including The Avener (FR) and its refined and delicate electro, Etienne de Crécy (FR), pioneer and great name of French electro for DJ sets and Arnaud Rebotini (FR) for a all-analog set out of vintage synths ! Fonkynson (QC), Kris Tin (QC), Heidy P. (QC) or Phil Fiction (QC) and many others will also be there!
Finally, Montréal Électronique Groove will be the special guest at Piknic Électronik for two afternoons devoted to a very young audience, as DJ workshops will be on offer as part of 3rd dition of mini MEG, hosted by DJ Omni (on Sunday).
MEG is also a time for exchange and sharing and this year we are offering MEG pro: a panel discussion with Quebec and French music industry professionals on the theme “20 years of electronic music creation between Quebec and France”.
I would like to thank the teams, volunteers and partners who have kept Montréal Électronique Groove alive for 20 years and hope to see many of you coming to celebrate this new decade with us! Happy festival to everyone!
