Tickets $8 online / $10 at the door (+ taxes + services fees)

Clark’s Bowling Club is a project born from musicians meeting at jams on Clark Street in Montreal in 2015. The members of the band are united around a common passion for 80’s music and play an easy-going funk, mixing hip-hop, jazz and electro with a contagious laissez-aller. On stage, you can definitely feel the dynamic with tracks such as ‘Real Ones’ or ‘Walk On By’ released last summer on their debut album Cool Kids. Far from the radars of the music press, it’s efficient and it goes where it wants to go.

The group will make you dance the night away on August 31st!

Growing up in France, Fonkynson was greatly influenced by his father’s music – the iconic sound of artists such as Jimi Hendrix and The Rolling Stones. His interest started shifting as he developed a taste for electronic music styles such as house, drum ‘n’ bass and techno, a passion which would bring him to produce his own material. Fonkynson released a first EP in 2008, on the American label Super HiFi and in 2013, he strikes again with a French house EP, this time released by the British imprint Heavy Disco. After signing to the Montreal-based label Lisbon Lux Records, Fonkynson releases the highly awaited Horny EP, which obtains a lot of attention on digital platforms, helping him reach a wider audience. In 2016, Fonkynson released #followme, a full-length album preceded by the success of two singles, ‘Never’ and ‘Keep It Cool’. Formed by two music producers (David, vocals and Antoine, synths/bass), with the addition of guitarist Justin, Ghost Love started writing songs on a trip to southern France two years ago. The band released their 1srst EP titled One lands on August 12th, 2017. While it was a completely independant release, it was able to garner some local buzz for the band as well as a sold out release show at the PHI Centre in Montreal. The EP was critically acclaimed by Vice, Voir, and Urbania while the lead single “One Lands” was also added to several Apple Music playlists. Followed by an appearance at Festival POP Montreal on September 2017, they played several shows in Ontario throughout the fall to packed venues including a show in Toronto at the Baby G in November. The group channel a dreamy and dark electronic pop atmosphere inspired by 80’s dark wave and synth pop acts such as Depeche Mode and Eurythmics.

They also marry their electronic side with lush spacey guitars, reminiscent of 90’s acts like Slowdive and Ride. Ghost Love is a visual and sonic exploration that channels decadence and anxiety, to discover on the stage of Ministere on August 30th 2018, right beside Syzzors.

Syzzors’ electro-pop special blend mixes R&B, funk, indie rock and 80’s new wave while always maintaining a contemporary pop sensibility. Lush synthesizers, groovy bass lines and powerful beats are layered with soaring androgynous vocals in a catchy energetic delivery. Their bittersweet melodies and dreamy atmospheres will surely carry you to sweet euphoria. The band started as a duo in 2012 and the bedroom laptop project evolved into a full-fledged quartet where live instrumentation became the core of their writing process. In 2015, the launch of their Leo EP created enough of a buzz to land them slots at FME, OUMF, Pop Montreal and even M for Montreal and even to earn two nominations at the Gamiq awards. 2017’s Unknown Within EP gets them back on track with their most refined material to date. It is a polished opus fully exploring their trademark dark electro-pop signature while capturing the explosive energy of their scenic prestance. Regulars of the MEG, Syzzors have already played in 2014, 2015 and 2016 at Divan Orange.

JT Soul is an enigmatic artist with a melodious voice and a deep tone. His name comes from Jean Talon Street where he grew up. Originally from the Saint-Léonard district, the singer and rapper from the ODDIO studio was inspired by his many night trips on board the 372 bus line that links Namur station to the far east of the city. At just 19, he already has several releases under his belt: a first E.P. in 2017 “372; Velvet Tears” in which he reveals himself and talks mainly about his youth on a mix of rap, soul, R&B and electronic music. In 2018, released “.WAV Tape “, a 3-track mixtape that sounds rather futuristic with a brutal and nostalgic rap. On stage, JT Soul reveals a presence and energy that electrifies the crowds. He has performed in Montreal venues such as Blue Dog, Newspeak, MURALS, Le Belmont and has shared the stage with artists such as Ramriddlz, Rich Homie Quan and High Klassified.

Omni has fifteen years of experience in the world of techno, first as a DJ, then as a producer and co-founder of Tasty Bytes Records. His career led him to publish about thirty tracks and remixes for labels such as Digital Structures, Twisted Frequency, Baroque, Absolut Freak and Cliché Musique. This allowed him to step on stages of major events and festivals in Canada, France and Réunion Island, including Piknic Electronik, Igloofest, MEG, the Réunion Electronik Groove and the Electro Parade. In his DJ set and live performances, his style navigates between different sounds, drawing as much from techno and progressive house as from the electro sounds that have been his trademark for many years.

Sunday, September 2nd, MEG will be the special guest of Piknic Electronik for an afternoon dedicated to a very young audience and DJ Omni will host DJing workshops offered as part of a mini MEG!
