Situated at the crossroads of acoustic and electronic music traditions, Raveen offers an emotional and organic songwriting augmented by modern production and sound design.
Drawing from a diverse spectrum of influences across the worlds of Pop, Jazz, R&B, Electroacoustic and Electronic music, the Montreal-based collaboration of vocalist/producer Eric Seguin, bassist/producer Stokely Diamantis and drummer Peter Colantonio has been performing their distinctively dynamic and captivating live shows since 2015.
Their debut full-length “Always” was released on July 2017 via So Sorry Records. The record marks their foray into more subdued, lush songwriting and a grandiose approach to arrangement with orchestral strings, choir work and field recording adding depth to the trio’s core palette of keys/bass/drums/electronics.
They will share the Ministère stage on July 30th to open the festival with Syzzors and Ghost Love!
Clark’s Bowling Club is a project born from musicians meeting at jams on Clark Street in Montreal in 2015. The members of the band are united around a common passion for 80’s music and play an easy-going funk, mixing hip-hop, jazz and electro with a contagious laissez-aller. On stage, you can definitely feel the dynamic with tracks such as ‘Real Ones’ or ‘Walk On By’ released last summer on their debut album Cool Kids. Far from the radars of the music press, it’s efficient and it goes where it wants to go.
The group will make you dance the night away on August 31st!
Formed by two music producers (David, vocals and Antoine, synths/bass), with the addition of guitarist Justin, Ghost Love started writing songs on a trip to southern France two years ago. The band released their 1srst EP titled One lands on August 12th, 2017. While it was a completely independant release, it was able to garner some local buzz for the band as well as a sold out release show at the PHI Centre in Montreal. The EP was critically acclaimed by Vice, Voir, and Urbania while the lead single “One Lands” was also added to several Apple Music playlists. Followed by an appearance at Festival POP Montreal on September 2017, they played several shows in Ontario throughout the fall to packed venues including a show in Toronto at the Baby G in November. The group channel a dreamy and dark electronic pop atmosphere inspired by 80’s dark wave and synth pop acts such as Depeche Mode and Eurythmics.
They also marry their electronic side with lush spacey guitars, reminiscent of 90’s acts like Slowdive and Ride. Ghost Love is a visual and sonic exploration that channels decadence and anxiety, to discover on the stage of Ministere on August 30th 2018, right beside Syzzors.
Syzzors’ electro-pop special blend mixes R&B, funk, indie rock and 80’s new wave while always maintaining a contemporary pop sensibility. Lush synthesizers, groovy bass lines and powerful beats are layered with soaring androgynous vocals in a catchy energetic delivery. Their bittersweet melodies and dreamy atmospheres will surely carry you to sweet euphoria. The band started as a duo in 2012 and the bedroom laptop project evolved into a full-fledged quartet where live instrumentation became the core of their writing process. In 2015, the launch of their Leo EP created enough of a buzz to land them slots at FME, OUMF, Pop Montreal and even M for Montreal and even to earn two nominations at the Gamiq awards. 2017’s Unknown Within EP gets them back on track with their most refined material to date. It is a polished opus fully exploring their trademark dark electro-pop signature while capturing the explosive energy of their scenic prestance. Regulars of the MEG, Syzzors have already played in 2014, 2015 and 2016 at Divan Orange.
They wouldn’t miss the MEG’s 20th edition in the world and will celebrate it with us on the Ministère’s stage on August 30th to open the festival, right beside Ghost Love!
