Producer ‘brtrnd’ (pronounced Bertrand) has slowly but surely been making a name for himself in Montreal’s electronic music scene. Drawing inspiration from James Blake to the late J-Dilla, brtrnd incorporates his training in percussion to explore different sub-genres of music.
Ghostly Kisses (Margaux Sauvé) incarnates her name perfectly in What you see, her first EP. Her ethereal voice that floats on top of electro-pop sounds will carry you on a musical journey to a universe that could be described as dream-like and melancholic. In 2016, Ghostly Kisses gathered much recognition by the media for gaining over 2 million hits on Spotify. She was also nominated as one of the five artists in Quebec that you must know in 2016 by the website 99scenes.
Ghostly Kisses has also played at the International Jazz Festival of Montreal and the Festival d’été de Québec. She had the opportunity to support internationally renowned artists such as Trixie Whitley, RY X and Milk & Bone in Canada and the United States. There is something beautiful about Rei Brown’s soothing voice drowning in the pulsing drums and hazy samples of his latest music. The Japanese artist’s restraint is clear in his boldly candid lyrics and delicate production. He has abandoned much of his formal music training for a more nuanced and sensual approach in hopes of recreating the intimacy of a rainy day or late night drive… MEG Montreal invites you to dive into his dreamy universe during his visit for the 19th edition of the festival, on September 1st.
Ragers have always been somewhat of a mystery, since popping out of the darkness in late 2013. Cumulating acclaim from fellow musicians and their audience, the trio won over the scene with their eclectic mix of electronic hip-hop and dreamy synth-flecked rock with live instruments.
Following the release of their second EP “Unum” on Complex and XXL magazine, the band has taken their critically-acclaimed live show to festivals such as the Montreal Jazz Festival, the Quebec City Summer Festival or the Osheaga Terrasses.
Their third opus “Joshua” produced in Los Angeles just came out last april, in association with artists such as James Di Salvio, Husser, Lou Phelps and Gabe Nandez. They will be present for a special night at MEG 2017!

Bad Nylon is a hip hop collective, created in 2015, year of the release of their first EP entitled “Musique de Brunch”. This group is composed of rappers and instrumentalists who align their poetry under the musical direction of the beatmaker Marie-Gold. This fully feminine group, which ensures both the writing, production and recording of its songs, has really created the craze around them. They launch a few months later “Le Deuxième Set”. This second mixtape testifies of their evolution in the musical scene.
During the year 2016, Bad Nylon participates in the festivals OUMF and Agrirock, besides launching a summer single entitled “Bootycall”, light and dancing which knew how to get the attention of the public. The women concentrate their energy on the elaboration of their first album planned in 2017. Kayiri, MC Zoz, Marie-Gold and DJ Audrey Bélanger are now the core of the group. This album is intended to be a grouping of solid songs worked by actresses passionate with the scene.

Montreal-based author and interpreter L.Teez was born in 1995. Nurtured and surrounded in music since an early age, he began to dabble in rap music at the age of 16. L. Teez finds his voice and his expression through an eclectic range of musical styles. His words ebb and flow in smooth torrents of hip hop and jazz that combine in a style all his own.
His writing express both his views of the world and of personal experiences. His words are filled with deep, genuine and thought-provoking emotion. As his expression matures and his writing takes shape, L. Teez turns his words into freestyle performance. From there begins his love for performing in front of an audience.
Born from the Electro project Afrikana Soul Sister, combines the distinct sound production of Jean-François Lemieux with the untamed percussive voices of Joannie Labelle (djembe, congos, bongos, darbouka)and the voice of Djely Tapa. The trio delivers a refreshing organic-electro Afro-House sound where polychrome ambiences are artfully mixed together on laptop with authentic African musical roots; the combination is emotionally explosive. Such a multi-sensory experiment in perpetual creation, between natural ethnic music and digital creativity, JFL is an open door to improvisation, tradition and imagination… Already here for the MEG 2012, the group is back this year to make you rediscover their singular and bold style !
Starting off his career by contributing heavily in the Montreal music, Canadian electronic music producer CRI was quickly propelled towards stimulating projects.
Having acquired notable success back in 2015 with his music video Pearl, directed by Kristof Brandl, the composer and self-taught DJ made his comeback with Tell Her and the beautiful single Why I love You which was released on the label TOKiMONSTA (Young Art). Influenced by artists such as Jamie XX, Caribou and Moderat, this young Montrealer recently released in march 2017 his new EP ‘Someone Else.
